In 2002, the WNC Green Building Council published and distributed 10,000
copies of their first WNC Green Building Directory. The Directory
lists regional businesses and organizations that manufacture, design
with, sell, or promote environmentally sound (green) building products
and services.
In addition, the Directory includes educational articles on green
building techniques and case studies on regional green built projects.
The Directory is available to building professionals and the general
public through our web page and a wide distribution including regional
chamber of commerce, local merchants, supply stores, and realtors in
eleven counties: Haywood, Madison, Buncombe, Jackson,
Transylvania, Henderson, McDowell, Yancey, Mitchell, Avery, and Watauga.
The 2002-2003 Directory was a huge success in linking hundreds of
businesses to thousands of homeowners. In addition, the Smart
Growth Partners of Western North Carolina gave the WNC Green Building
Directory its "2002 Environment Award".
